Gwar added a new female vocalist named Vulvatron to the band in September, but her time in Gwar is already over: The band announced that Kim Dylla, the woman who plays Vulvatron, is leaving the band.
“Kim did a great job, but we wanted to go a different direction with the Vulvatron character,” Gwar guitarist Brent Purgason said in a statement on the band’s Facebook page. “There is no ill will, no acrimony, and no drama. We respect Kim’s talent without question, it just isn’t what we needed in the character.”
Dylla might not agree about the “no ill will” part: In an Instagram caption, she said she’s “seeking a band professional enough to communicate with someone personally about a matter that concerns them before making press releases to the general public and fans.” The accompanying photo is of a statement from Dylla that says the “serious metal band” she’s looking to join “must not be threatened by strong women.”
This announcement comes on the heels of news that Gwar will be releasing a book on, well, Gwar on Sept. 30.
