Fans of The Who saw the real Eddie Vedder during a concert in Chicago on Wednesday night. Vedder, who one night earlier sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during a Cubs game, helped The Who perform “The Real Me.”
Vedder is getting his fill of The Who this week: On Thursday, he’s scheduled to perform with Pete Townshend at a benefit concert in Illinois to raise money for American teenagers with cancer. Not that such proximity to the classic rockers is strange for Vedder. The frontman and his Pearl Jam bandmates often perform covers of The Who in concert. Here’s the group singing “Love Reign o’er Me” and “The Real Me” during a VH1 special in 2008. It’s great.
