Wednesday night in New York City saw us move one step closer to the long-in-the-making Miley Cyrus-Flaming Lips collaborative material when the Bangerz artist was joined by Coyne onstage at the Adult Swim Upfronts party to perform a new track off their forthcoming album, “Tiger Days.” (Lips member Wayne Coyne told Billboard earlier this month, “We’ve just been getting in each other’s worlds. We text everyday—sometimes three times, somtimes a thousand.” Frankly, that sounds time-consuming.)

Cyrus, clad in enormous pink butterfly wings, introduced Coyne and the track, saying, “Wayne doesn’t listen much to Katy Perry, and I had to tell him that she already has a song called ‘Tiger’ and that we can’t do that. So this is ‘Tiger Dreams.’” (Perry does not in fact have a song called “Tiger.”) A fan video of the performance found its way online.

Along with covering Paul Simon’s “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover,” Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue,” and Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You,” she also gave Khia’s “My Neck, My Back” a whirl, and there was no way a video of that wouldn’t surface.
