Christopher Owens’ voice cracks quite a bit in his just-released “Selfish Feelings,” but that only adds to the power of the self-conscious but honest song, which the former Girls frontman posted to Twitter on Wednesday.

Owens fronted Girls until they officially disbanded in 2012, just a year after releasing their second album, 2011’s Father, Son, Holy Ghost. But they ended on a high note: Father, Son, Holy Ghost peaked at number 37 on the Billboard 200, and the album made multiple best-of lists.

Since then, Owens has released two solo albums, his last being 2014’s A New Testament. “Selfish Feelings” is off “a forthcoming album,” he said on Twitter—but didn’t specify when that album’s coming or what it will be called. Listen to the new track here.
