You can take the gal out of Port Charles, but you can’t take Port Charles out of the gal.

That’s why Genie Francis—better known to her legion of fans as Laura Spencer—is returning yet again to the show that made her one of daytime’s most recognizable stars. On June 5, ABC’s General Hospital welcomes back the other half of its famed Luke-and-Laura duo—because, as the show’s producers describe, her family needs her.

Here’s an exclusive first look of Laura with her son, Nikolas (Tyler Christopher).

This marks Francis’ latest tour of duty to the fictitious New York town. As EW first reported in 2013, Francis made her first triumphant return to General Hospital after spending a little over a year on The Young and the Restless. She returned to GH to help celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary.

Francis returns to the ABC soap at a bittersweet time: Anthony Geary, a.k.a. Luke Spencer, announced earlier this month that he will leave the daytime sudser later this summer. He first joined the soap in 1978.
