Our prayers are answered: Sisters is coming to DVD

(NBCU Photo Bank)

Last year, when EW reunited the cast of Sisters, we wished for a time when we could re-watch the classic early ’90s nighttime soap on DVD. And now it’s happening: Shout! Factory has announced that it’ll be releasing the first two seasons on Sept. 15.

For the uninitiated: Long before Sex and the City, there were the four women of Sisters, who talked frankly about sex and relationships on weekly TV. The show ran on NBC from 1991 to ‘96 and chronicled the lives of the Reed sibs: Frankie (Julianne Phillips), Alex (Swoosie Kurtz), Teddy (Sela Ward) and Georgie (Patricia Kalember).

The show had no shortage of nutty plots (“There was a lot going on for a suburb in Illinois,” Kurtz quipped to EW), and over the course of 127 episodes, the sisters lived through multiple marriages, adultery, cancer, rape, and a car bomb. It also had a knack for casting prophetically: Paul Rudd, Ashley Judd, Kirsten Dunst and, of course, George Clooney all had parts on the show.
