Stephen Colbert just announced a key role in his Late Show takeover: New Orleans musician Jon Batiste will be the CBS late night show’s bandleader. Batiste will take over a spot that was long held by David Letterman’s sidekick, Paul Shaffer.

“His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ‘Do Not Make Love’ sign,” Colbert said.

“This is a match made in heaven,” Batiste said. “Get ready for a love riot in late night.”

Batiste is referring to when he took his band Stay Human into the streets and caused a mini-parade “love riot.” Batiste’s Social Music hit No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz Album Chart, and he’s appeared as himself on HBO’s Treme. In 2012, Batiste was appointed the Artistic Director at Large of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert premieres Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 11:35 p.m.
