Three Stooges returning with animated series

(Titmouse Animation)

Larry, Moe and Curly are about to be introduced to a whole new generation of fans as a brand-new Three Stooges animated series is in the works, kids television distributor Cake announced Monday.

Cake, animation studio Titmouse, Inc. and C3 Entertainment Inc.—owners of The Three Stooges brand—will be working on the project together. The intention is for different established directors to helm several episodes each. The pilot was created with Christy Karacas (Superjail!) directing, with other directors to come.

Each of the 52 episodes will be 11 minutes and will have the “same broad family appeal that is associated with The Three Stooges classic brand, with the physical visual and slapstick humour taken to whole new levels,” a press release from Cake stated. The series will have limited dialogue, giving it the ability to appeal to international audiences.

“I grew up watching The Three Stooges with my father,” Titmouse president Chris Prynoski said. “When I signed on to helm this new show, I made a blood oath to my Dad that I would treat the Stooges brand like it was a newborn baby Fabergé egg. With the cartoon making team we have lined up at Titmouse, it’s sure to be the most batty, bananas, insanely giggle-inducing version of the Three Stooges your eyeballs and brainhole have ever experienced. Dad, I won’t let you down!”
