Emmys now accepting nominations online

Now there’s no excuse for TV academy members of all ages and levels of experience to cast votes for their favorite stars and shows.

For the first time ever, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is allowing its membership to select nominees online. Paper ballots will no longer be accepted for the awards that will air in September on Fox.

As with any new initiative, there is a catch. Members need a login and password to get on the website. They also have to make sure the Academy has their correct email address and cell phone number. That means regular Joes and Janes like us can’t go in and stuff the ballot with perennially-overlooked candidates (sorry, Katey Sagal; we would have done you a solid).

Members can vote online through June 26.

Emmy nominations will be announced on July 16 at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Emmys telecast will air live on Fox starting at 8 p.m. ET on Sept. 20.
