Tom Hanks is in negotiations Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in the Clint Eastwood’s upcoming project about the heroic pilot.
Earlier this month Warner Bros. announced the American Sniper director would helm the untitled biopic about the commercial airline pilot who became known as a national hero back in 2009. The script will be penned by Todd Komarnicki (Perfect Stranger) based off Sullenberger’s autobiography, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, co-written by Jeffrey Zaslow.
Sullenberger was flying US Airways Flight 1549 when the plane struck a flock of birds. He was able to perform an emergency landing on New York’s Hudson River with everyone on board surviving the unexpected incident.
Production on the film will begin later this year.
