French director Claire Denis is traveling to space for her first English-language film, a far-away sci-fi adventure that takes place in a ‘future that seems like the present,’” Screen Daily reports.
Denis will write the script with novelists (and spouses) Zadie Smith and Nick Laird. Miss Julie’s Oliver Dunjey is set to produce along with Blue is the Warmest Color’s Laurence Clerc and Olivier Théry-Lapiney. This will be Denis’ first film since releasing Bastards, a drama about sex-centric scandals, in 2013. Smith’s 2000 novel, White Teeth, was adapted for British television in 2002, but this will be first feature screenplay.
Denis and the producers could not immediately be reached for comment.
