Jewel goes full '90s and covers Backstreet Boys' 'I Want It That Way'

(CMT)

Jewel and Backstreet Boys really only have one thing in common: their massive success in the ’90s. Her smash hit “Hands” climbed the charts in 1999, while the boy band released Millennium, which would go on to become the best-selling album of the year. The first single from that LP, “I Want It That Way,” is burned into every millennial’s brain, and now it seems Jewel has a soft spot for the track more than 15 years after its release.

In an appearance on CMT’s new late-night series, The Josh Wolf Show, Jewel performed a cover of the song while wearing an all-white outfit, akin to what the Backstreet Boys wore in the song’s music video — which were later parodied in Blink 182’s “All The Small Things” vid. The performance is part of a the “Guilty Pleasure” segment on his show, which, yeah, makes sense.
