Love, amnesia, and zombies. That’s what’s teased in The Hive, Nerdist’s first feature film acquisition. Nerdist honcho Chris Hardwick debuted the first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday afternoon, and EW has the exclusive first online look.

The trailer depicts Adam (Gabriel Basso) and Katie (Kathryn Prescott) flirting in an idyllic, sunny bedroom. Everything looks perfect — until a plane (or spaceship?) crashes in the distance. The honeymoon phase is over, and what appears to be a disease outbreak consumes their world. Adam documents memories and tries to discover the truth in a fashion reminiscent of Christopher Nolan’s Memento.

Plus, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn hails the movie as “the most horrifying and disgusting love story ever,” so that’s promising!

The Hive features tracks from the album Neon Future by house musician Steve Aoki, who created the soundtrack and also serves an executive producer. The film is directed by David Yarovesky and produced by Cary Granat (Scream 2, Scream 3), Ed Jones, Jared Mass, and Vincent Sieber. The film is slated to be released in theaters and VOD this fall.
