Oscar Isaac’s Nick Wasicsko believes he’s finally on the right side of something, but he won’t have an easy time of seeing his vision become a reality.

HBO has debuted a first look at the upcoming miniseries Show Me a Hero, written by The Wire‘s David Simon and directed by Crash‘s Paul Haggis. Isaac plays the mayor of Yonkers, New York as he tries to integrate public housing in the 1980’s.

The series also stars Jon Bernthal, Catherine Keener, Winona Ryder, and more.

The six-episode series, based on Lisa Belkin’s 1999 nonfiction book, will premiere with parts 1 and 2 on Aug. 16 on HBO.
