Donald Trump, already under fire for comments linking Mexican immigrants to crime, made a high-profile enemy on Sunday when he tweeted about Mexican drug boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who escaped from Altiplano jail on Saturday night.

“Mexico’s biggest drug lord escapes from jail. Unbelievable corruption and USA is paying the price. I told you so!” he wrote.

Afterward, the user @ElChap0Guzman tweeted in Spanish, “Keep f–king around and I’m gonna make you swallow your b–ch words you f–king whitey milks–tter.” The account claims to be Guzman’s official profile, although its authenticity has not been verified.

“There’s no jail that can hold someone as big as Chapo,” the user tweeted, also in Spanish.

Trump continued to rail against Guzman’s escape on Sunday and Monday, taking the opportunity to pit himself against his fellow presidential hopefuls.

“The U.S. will invite El Chapo, the Mexican drug lord who just escaped prison, to become a U.S. citizen because our ‘leaders’ can’t say no!” he wrote.

Trump alerted the FBI to the threats on Monday, declaring his intention not to let the threats silence him. “I’m fighting for much more than myself,” Trump said in a statement. “I’m fighting for the future of our country, which is being overrun by criminals.”
