Nicole Wallace’s role as a co-host on The View will change if the political commentator decides to stay with the ABC News program.

EW has confirmed that Wallace has been offered a job as a contributor, not a host, for the 19th season. Wallace joined the program last fall along with Rosie O’Donnell and Rosie Perez.

Wallace missed Wednesday’s telecast but is expected to return to the hosting table on Thursday. She has yet to decide whether to return in the fall, a source told EW.

Variety was the first to report about Wallace.

The decision to reassign Wallace comes as ABC News prepares to yet again reboot The View, one of TV’s longest running talk shows. After O’Donnell left in February, Perez announced that she would not return for a second season. In the meantime, ABC News has added Raven-Symoné and comedienne Michelle Collins to the panel.

Both Perez and Wallace will remain on The View until Aug. 6, when the current season ends. There has been talk of relying on a rotating stable of contributors like Stacy London, but ABC News has yet to announce its plans for season 19.
