Icona Pop share 'First Time,' off Emergency EP

Following last month’s release of horn-heavy ”Emergency,” Icona Pop have shared another new trackalthough it isn’t all that new at all.

Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo actually wrote “First Time”about “the first time we got high / the first time we got drunk / the first time we fell in love”back in 2012, but just now decided to dust it off. It’s the first track they wrote together, which could explain the more shouty, anthemic energy reminiscent of their star-making 2012 hit “I Love It.”

“First Time” comes off the Swedish duo’s Emergency EP, which will be released Friday.

“The song has a whole new meaning to it now, looking back and reflecting on how far we’ve come since those early days when we were broke and didn’t have a clue what we were doing or where we were going!” Jawo said in a press release on Thursday.

“It’s such a special song to us and really is a celebration of friendship, whether it’s with your boyfriend or girlfriend or best friend,” Hjelt added. “We just wanted to capture that feeling again in a song and remind ourselves how important it is to never forget those special early days when you first meet someone.”

Icona Pop are currently touring with One Direction on their North American tour
