Carly Rae Jepsen has slowly been rolling out songs from her new album, Emotion, due out Aug. 21. The latest track, “Run Away With Me,” which premiered Friday on Today, is another catchy smash in a line of definite hits.
She also dropped its music video, which shows mostly handheld footage shot while she traveled. “I didn’t even know we were making a music video until about halfway through it,” Jepsen said in a statement. “[Director] David [Kalani Larkins] always has a camera in his hand and he has a way about him that makes you forget that it’s there. It became a part of our daily adventure on the road to film as we went. Promo tour can be a blur and I can remember watching over his shoulder as he uploaded the footage, recounting memories of the trip that I had almost already forgotten. This project became a way for us to slow down time and preserve the moments from magical places like Paris, New York, and Japan.”
Other already-released tracks from the album include its first single, “I Really Like You,” “Emotion” and “All That,” which was produced by Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. She also collaborated with Sia, Ariel Rechtshaid, Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Greg Kurstin.
“Part of the mission was not just going with people that my A&R guy set me up with, but also just reaching out to artists that I loved and producers who I got wind of,” Jepsen told EW earlier this year. “If they said yes, sometimes some magic happened.”
