Shortly after the Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained became the most-funded video game on Kickstarter, a new top funded title has been crowned hours before its Kickstarter comes to a close.

Shenmue 3, the Kickstarter for which will end shortly before 10 p.m. ET on July 17, has surpassed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which ended its Kickstarter run at slightly over $5.5 million.

As of press time, Shenmue 3 has pulled in over $5.8 million and continues to climb ahead of its original $2 million goal. The game debuted during the PlayStation E3 press conference. As Polygon noted, this puts Shenmue 3 in third place among all game-related Kickstarter campaigns, behind the Ouya game console and the Exploding Kittens card game.
