Lee Daniels says those F-bombs he dropped after Empire’s Emmys snub were all just in good fun.

The series’ creator shared an expletive-filled Instagram video Thursday after the Fox drama wasn’t nominated for best drama, showing him laughing with Empire actor Jussie Smollett, who tells him “You have to be nice.”

Daniels shot back, “F—k these motherf—ers!”

But on Thursday night, Daniels shared another video saying that everyone took the first post too seriously.

“Some of these people got nothing else better to do than hate on me for having fun,” he says in the clip. “I love the Emmys, and I’m excited for my cast and crew that got nominated and for the other people that got nominated for Emmys. So haters, shut up and go to bed.”

That post included the hashtags #shutuphaters, #emmypower, and #congratstoall.

Empire received three Emmy nominations on Thursday — two for costume design, and one for Taraji P. Henson as lead actress in a drama series.
