The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira on Richonne: 'I love that folks want Michonne to get some'

(Gene Page/AMC)

Chaos. Anarchy. Mayhem. That pretty much sums up what happened when the cast and producers of The Walking Dead walked into the Entertainment Weekly Radio studios at Comic-Con in San Diego the other week. It was the gang’s last media event of the convention and they may have been just a liiiiiiiiitle bit loopy.

But through all the madness we were able to get the group of 12 (Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Steven Yeun, Sonequa Martin-Green, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Lennie James, Michael Cudlitz, as well as producers Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, and Denise Huth) to answer a few questions about the zombie drama and what to expect coming up in season 6. Questions like: What’s this we hear about Lincoln’s mother wanting Rick and Michonne to hook up?

“The Richonne thing—we get it a lot,” says Gurira. “They’re friends, you know. And people want that. I love that folks want Michonne to get some. I always say that. I say to my boss, ‘Michonne’s a nun. She don’t give none, she don’t get none.’”

Okay, that’s actually pretty good. Unfortunately, nobody will spill on whather Lincoln’s mom will see her dreams—and possible fan fiction—come true in season 6, but you can now hear the entire interview—including talk on the possibility of a Morgan flashback and Reedus’ thoughts on Daryl—right here on the InsideTV Podcast by clicking on the audio player below. (The Walking Dead interview starts 12 minutes in.)

But that’s not all the Walking Dead we’ve got for you. We kick things off with our EW Radio Comic-Con interview with the cast and producers of AMC’s new companion show, Fear the Walking Dead. It’s another big group we crammed into our remote studio, with Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Frank Dillane, Rubén Blades, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Mercedes Mason, and Lorenzo James Henrie, as well as producers Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Erickson. What weapon is their favorite to fight off the undead? And which cast member would die first in a real zombie apocalypse? Get to know the cast that will start dying on your TV screens starting on Aug. 23 right now.
