Tig Notaro has good intentions: “I offered to be the sober driver,” the comedian says in a clip from her upcoming HBO special, Boyish Girl Interrupted. “Not that anybody in my family cared either way. They were just like, ‘okay, nerd.'”

Boyish Girl Interrupted‘s release comes on the heels of Tig, a documentary about Notaro’s life that was released on Netflix in July. The stand-up special, which she’s been promoting by having famous friends like Sarah Silverman and Kumail Nanjiani tweet for her, debuts on HBO on Aug. 22 at 10 p.m. ET.
