Sherlock Holmes’ father is coming to Elementary — and EW has the exclusive first look.

Fringe and Sleepy Hollow alum John Noble will make his debut in the new season as Morland Holmes, Sherlock’s (Jonny Lee Miller) estranged father, who was en route to New York after learning that Sherlock had fallen off the wagon.

“Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents,” executive producer Rob Doherty says. “For him, it’s too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I’d say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock’s father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby.”

Elementary returns Thursday, Nov. 5 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
