It’s a grey area in which Bill Hader and Fred Armisen are about to play. Grey Gardens, to be exact. The first episode of the pair’s IFC comedy Documentary Now! (which they created with fellow SNL vet Seth Meyers) pays tongue-in-cheek tribute to the 1975 doc about an eccentric upper-crust mother and daughter living in a dilapidated Hamptons manor.

Hosted by Helen Mirren, the six-episode series will offer up a different iconic documentary style and time period each week. Right now, you can get an exclusive preview of the premiere, “Sandy Passage,” while watching Hader and Arimsen, in women’s clothing, quibble about exploding knees, sandwich-swiping squirrels, and violin-playing suitors in trees.

Watch an EW exclusive first look from the premiere below. Documentary Now! debuts Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on IFC.
