Wayne Brady is heading to Broadway for Kinky Boots at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced Thursday. Brady will be stepping into the role of Lola, succeeding the original Lola, Billy Porter.

“I’m thrilled to join the Kinky Boots family and unleash my inner Lola,” Brady said in a statement. “It’s the role of a lifetime! Billy and his prodigious talent have left some pretty big red boots for me to fill. Starring in a Broadway show of this caliber has been my dream since I started performing at age 16. I’m ready to jump in with both feet!”

The Emmy-winning actor first appeared on Broadway back in 2004 in Chicago as Billy Flynn. As for the small screen, Brady has been recognized for his work on Whose Line Is It Anyway? as well as his early-2000s talk show, The Wayne Brady Show. He is now the host of CBS’ Let’s Make a Deal

After more than 800 performances, Porter – who was honored with a Tony Award and Grammy for his Kinky Boots work – will take his final bow for the Tony-winning musical on Nov. 20. Brady will officially take the reins on Nov. 21.
