Welp. We can all pack it in for the day. There’s now a Ned Flanders-themed metal band. Okilly Dokilly, based in Phoenix, formed last month and is a full concept project: They call their genre “Nedal” — Ned metal — and have Ned-themed names for themselves (Head Ned, Red Ned, Bled Ned, Thread Ned, and Stead Ned).

There are also costumes, duh. Dressed in green sweaters, pink collared shirts, and glasses, the five bandmates are basically clones of the Simpsons character, Ned Flanders.

Okilly Dokilly was founded only a few months ago and vocalist Head Ned told Australian publication Rip It Up that he and the drummer Bled Ned came up with the name (and idea) while throwing around “really cutesy names for really hardcore, brutal bands.” In terms of how they fit in with other Simpsons-themed music, Head Ned says, “Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk. Not as heavy as ‘Homer J.ent – Nedal is a happy medium in the Simpscene.” Cool. Makes sense.

The band’s first show is Sept. 5 in Phoenix, but you can check out their demos via BandCamp.
