Caitlyn Jenner stands by what she said about ex-wife Kris in Vanity Fair

(E!)

On a macro level, Caitlyn Jenner’s debut on the cover of Vanity Fair was a groundbreaking step forward for the rights and visibility of trans people. On the micro level, however, her family was less than pleased with their portrayal in the accompanying article.

In particular, it was Jenner’s quotes about ex-wife Kris that raised the ire of stepdaughters Khloé and Kim Kardashian. Where Khloé took a more antaognistic approach, Kim tries to appeal to Jenner in a new clip from Sunday’s I Am Cait. “I think there are some things that you said that you might not realize are hurtful,” she says. “You said Kendall and Kylie Jenner were a distraction, and so when they read that, they’re gonna think … I don’t think they’ll quite understand that.”

Adds Kim: “Then it said, ‘Had Kris been accepting to who I am, we still would be together.’ And that’s the most unfair thing in the world to say.”

However, Jenner stands by the article, telling E! cameras, “It was the first time I ever really had the opportunity to be absolutely truthful with a reporter about every aspect of my life.”

I Am Cait airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on E!.
