Outlander star Tobias Menzies is joining the world of vampires and werewolves in Underworld: Next Generation.

Menzies, who portrays both devoted husband Frank Randall and villain Black Jack Randall in the Starz time-travel series, is set for a major role as Marius, a mysterious new Lycan (Underworld-speak for werewolf), EW has confirmed. Menzies will be joining Kate Beckinsale — the actress who first brought the franchise’s vampire assassin Selene to the big screen in 2003 — and Theo James, who is reprising his role as David from 2012’s Underworld: Awakening

The fifth Underworld film is directed by Anna Foerster, the first woman to helm a female-led horror franchise. Foerster also directed Menzies in several episodes of Outlander, including the controversial season finale, which saw Menzies’ character sexually assault the male protagonist, portrayed by Sam Heughan.

The Underworld V script reportedly centers on a younger generation of vampires and Lycans. The film is expected to begin shooting this fall.
