Jon Stewart to host WWE's SummerSlam

(WWE)

Jon Stewart has his first big post-Daily Show role lined up: Host of WWE’s upcoming SummerSlam.

Stewart – a fan of the WWE – has a little WWE history with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. After the late-night host teased Rollins online, the wrestler appeared on The Daily Show and challenged Stewart to stop by Monday Night Raw. Stewart accepted back in March and the rest is history (see Stewart deliver a swift kick – followed by a very quick exit – below).

Stewart stepped down as the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show after 16 years earlier this month, with his successor, Trevor Noah, slated to take over hosting duties on Sept. 28.

WWE’s SummerSlam kicks off live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with a one-hour pre-show beginning at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the four-hour broadcast Sunday, Aug. 23 on the WWE Network.

USA Today was the first to report the news.
