MythBusters captures a gunshot at 73,000 frames per second

(Discovery)

Calling all superheroes: “Faster than a speeding bullet” just got a little easier to imagine.

In their latest quest to leap tall scientific discoveries in a single bound, the MythBusters team recorded a bullet leaving the barrel of a gun at 73,000 frames per second on Saturday. With the help of a high-speed camera called the Phantom, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage captured fire and smoke patterns that dissipate too quickly for the naked eye. The end result left Savage nearly speechless.
