Mythbusters tests Breaking Bad finale trunk machine gun scene (with a little help from Vince Gilligan)

Was Walter White’s last stand a plausible one or something wildly unrealistic? The Mythbusters team took on the Breaking Bad finale to find out whether Walt could have actually succeeded – and survived – his machine-gun assault.

With a little help from series creator Vince Gilligan to ensure authenticity for the scene, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman constructed a machine-gun mount that was then placed in a car trunk and pointed at a stand-in wall made of the same material as the house in the show. With a few cardboard cutouts to represent the people in the room – including a Walter White low to the ground – the Mythbusters team determined if Walter could make it out of that mess alive, and even if the bullets could even pierce the wall in the first place.

Watch the test above to find out their results.
