Hozier took BB1 Radio 1 to church when he recently performed a cover of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down,” the first single off 2014’s In the Lonely Hour, in their live lounge. Smith apparently heard the cover and loved it, according to this tweet of appreciation.

Hozier released his self-titled debut album in fall 2014 and went on to nab a Grammy nomination for single “Take Me to Church” and two Billboard awards. Watch his Motown-inspired reimagining of “Lay Me Down” below.
