A new trailer for the second season of iZombie offers a sneak peek at what’s next on the menu for the aptly named undead heroine Liv Moore.

In the comic-based series, Rose McIver plays Liv, a zombified young woman who trades in her promising medical career for a job at the police morgue, where she feasts on the brains of homicide victims. But eating brains comes with a surprising side effect of experiencing memories and personality traits of the deceased — insight Liv puts to good use trying to solve their murders.

After an explosive (literally) season 1 finale, the trailer for the sophomore season teases what may be a budding alliance between Liv and her nemesis Blaine DeBeers (David Anders), a fellow zombie who deployed dark tactics to procure brains. The trailer also offers a glimpse at what might be on the menu for Liv, as she takes on the personalities of a frat boy and a curmudgeon.

The series, from Veronica Mars alums Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright, returns to the CW on Oct. 6.
