Deadpool's Book Club presents: A Judy Blume classic

Deadpool might be a smarmy smartass, but it doesn’t mean Wade Wilson lacks a sensitive soul.

Star Ryan Reynolds shared a new picture Thursday with the superhero chilling with Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by newcomer Brianna Hildebrand). He’s trying to connect, as evidenced by the actor’s hashtag choice:

Wilson is reading Blume’s iconic book about teenage girls, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. It follows the titular sixth-grade girl as she struggles with her religious beliefs and puberty. Negasonic might present further issues for the assassin to understand — like telepathy.

Directed by Tim Miller, the assuredly R-rated Deadpool is scheduled for release on Feb. 12.
