The Who have postponed its The Who Turns 50! Tour indefinitely.

Earlier this month, the band canceled the first four shows on the tour after lead singer Roger Daltrey contracted a virus. On Friday, Daltrey confirmed that he was diagnosed with viral meningitis and that immediate and prolonged rest was the recommendation of his doctor.

“We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way,” Daltry, 71, said in a statement. “For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover.  The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year.”

Pete Townshend added that the band was hoping to reschedule the shows for Spring 2016.

Earlier this summer, The Who played its final hometown show at London’s Hyde Park to 65,000 people. The two remaining members of The Who were also forced to cancels shows at the end of last year, after Daltry contracted a throat infection.
