Halloweentown star Kimberly J. Brown announces she'll be attending movie-inspired festival

When fans of Disney Channel’s original movie Halloweentown learned that a festival based on the film would be coming to St. Helens, Oregon, next month, they started buying plane tickets to the Beaver State. St. Helens served as the first Halloweentown filming location, but October’s Spirit of Halloweentown will resemble the movie even closer this year when the original Marnie Cromwell, played by Kimberly J. Brown, visits the festival.

“I’d like to officially let you guys know that on Oct. 10, I’m going to dust off the old broom, pull out my witch’s cloak, and fly on out to Halloweentown and kick off the festivities for the month,” Brown announced on YouTube Tuesday.

The Spirit of Halloweentown pays homage to the 1998 DCOM with pumpkin carving contests, haunted tractor rides, and dozens of other festive celebrations, running from Oct. 10 through the big day (Oct. 31). Brown will be on hand to light the jack-o-lantern and “talk all things Halloweentown,” and the event’s organizer hinted that those who dressed up in costume could be eligible for a special photo opportunity.

“I’m really, really excited,” Brown continued in the video. “I’m honored that not only St. Helens does this for the movie, which is really, really cool, but that they asked me up to celebrate the film.”

The Spirit of Halloweentown took to Facebook earlier this week to express their excitement about Brown’s appearance. “GUESS WHAT? MARNIE IS COMING TO ST. HELENS, OREGON OCTOBER 10TH FOR THE PUMPKIN LIGHTING CEREMONY AT 7 P.M.,” the page says. “This is going to be so, so cool!”

Brown says she’s been receiving many messages about visiting the festival, and invites fans to come visit her during her time in St. Helens. The 30-year-old actress adds that she’ll be tweeting and posting pictures for anyone who can’t make it.
