Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel 'hug it out' in couple's therapy

(ABC)

Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel tried to solve their long-standing, ambivalent relationship on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by attending couple’s therapy.

Donning a bald cap, mustache, and Southern accent, The Martian star walked out pretending to be Dr. Phil to an unsuspecting Kimmel, who had promised the actor that he could appear on the show Monday night. Kimmel proved he didn’t say this by cutting to their taped therapy session.

In therapy, Damon expressed his grief on being scheduled to appear on Kimmel’s show every night for 12 years and having to wait in a room backstage—only to be bumped by Kimmel each time.

The two traded insults as Kimmel said it must “suck” to be Damon as he has neither the face nor the body to be a movie star. “It’s not a movie star face. It’s not a movie star body,” Kimmel said.

One of the best moments came when Kimmel addressed Damon’s selfishness.

“This is my show and he thinks it’s his show,” Kimmel told the therapist.

The actor then alluded to the episode when he kidnapped the host and took over the show with a tied-up Kimmel looking on. “I took this sh— and f— busted the ratings wide open,” Damon said.
