Ryan Reynolds remembered his father, James Reynolds, with a touching photo tribute on Wednesday.

“RIP Pops. James C. Reynolds. 1941-2015,” Reynolds wrote on Twitter. In addition to the photo, Reynolds included a plea for support and donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Reynolds’ father was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1995, and the actor got involved with The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2008.

“I have a slightly different, weird, strange story about that because my father really hasn’t ever said he has Parkinson’s disease,” Reynolds said during an interview with the TODAY show last year. “It kind of galvanized everybody else, to sort of seek resources. And for us, it’s in a strange way, it’s really kind of brought us together.”

Reynolds and wife Blake Lively named their daughter James, after Reynolds’ father.
