Fox loves animated comedies. (The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, etc.)

They’re not mad at live-action ones either. (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, New Girl, etc.)

So perhaps it makes sense that they would go for a show that mashes both genres. And so we will soon get Son of Zorn, a hybrid comedy from Lego Movie directors and Last Man on Earth executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The network announced on Tuesday that it had ordered the first season of Son of Zorn, in which SNL vet/Last Man on Earth guest star Jason Sudeikis will voice a lead character.

The show, set to make its debut in the 2016–2017 season, follows the animated warrior Zorn (Sudeikis) who returns to Earth after a 10-year absence, only to discover that reestablishing ties with son Alan (21 Jump Street‘s Johnny Pemberton) and ex-wife Edie (Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Cheryl Hines) is “harder than waging actual war in his distant, mystical homeland of Zephyria.” In addition, Zorn will spend his days toiling in a ho-hum office job and adjusting to life in the suburbs.

The cast also features another former SNL cast member Tim Meadows.

Lord and Miller will serve as executive producers of the series alongside Wilfred vets Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne, who penned the pilot and will act as showrunners.
