This post includes spoilers about the Walking Dead comic books.

Just when The Walking Dead fans think Glenn’s fate couldn’t get any more mysterious, the show has decided to introduce the villain who murders Glenn in the comic books.

That’s right: EW has confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as comic-book villain Negan. Morgan is expected to appear toward the end of the current season and then return for season 7 as a possible series regular.

Morgan is currently playing a complicated investigator named Jason Crouse on the CBS hit The Good Wife, but that role is not expected to get in the way of his new gig on The Walking Dead, EW has learned. It’s likely Morgan only signed a one-year deal with The Good Wife, which recruited Morgan to fill the investigator role when Archie Panjabi (who played Kalinda Sharma) left last season. But there’s also a good chance that he’ll get to do both dramas. Stay tuned.

Morgan’s already demonstrated that he has the experience to join The Walking Dead since he’s no stranger to the comic-book universe, having played the Comedian in the 2009 film Watchmen. He also starred in the 2010 comic-book adaptation The Losers, and will play Bruce Wayne’s father in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
