Hogwarts Express conductor shares inside look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

It’s a Hogsmeade visit that doesn’t require a permission slip! On Thursday, Universal Studios Hollywood debuted the first of a series of tour videos exploring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which will open in California in spring of 2016.

The first video features the conductor of the Hogwarts Express, who also greets fans on the Wizarding World’s interactive virtual tour site, which launched last month. The conductor guides viewers through some of the best spots to shop, eat, and drink in the village of Hogsmeade — only here, you don’t have to be a third year to go!

He describes destinations including the Owl Post, where you can send letters with a Hogsmeade postmark; Zonko’s Joke Shop, which is “a favorite for the more mischievous students”; and Honeydukes Sweetshop — though the video does not make clear whether the Wizarding World’s Honeydukes can be accessed via the basement after following the secret passage at the statue of the one-eyed witch.

For refreshment, you can stop in at the Three Broomsticks, where the conductor reminds you to “keep your eyes peeled for the house-elves darting about,” or there’s the Hog’s Head pub if you’re thirsty for some butterbeer. (No word on the presence of Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop, so please take your tearful Valentine’s Day date elsewhere.)

As you leave the village, you can check out the Triwizard Spirit Rally or pop in to Hagrid’s hut, where you can learn how to properly greet a hippogriff without getting ripped apart by its sharp talons. Hint: Don’t call it a “great ugly brute.”
