UPDATE: Pusha T confirmed plans for Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude in a release out Tuesday. According to the statement, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Jill Scott, Kehlani, and the Dream will all be featured vocalists. Timbaland, West, Q-Tip, Hudson Mohawke and Diddy will produce.

Pusha T was recently promoted to president of G.O.O.D. Music, which will put out the album. He took the reigns from West, who announced the transition earlier this month.

EARLIER: Pusha T has been teasing his next album King Push for quite a while, but the rapper confirms he’ll actually put out another collection before that one is even released: Darkest Before The Dawn, which Pusha T is billing as a prequel to King Push, will arrive on Dec. 18.

Reports about the project had been swirling, but Noisey broke the news Monday, and EW can confirm the plans.

“I feel like I had the producers doing things that they weren’t usually known for, a little out of their wheelhouse,” Pusha T told Noisey. “I wanted to give the fans that body of work. That’s the music I love, and that’s the music that my fans love from me. Instead of having those moments throughout King Push, let’s just separate the game.”

King Push will feature his most recent single “Untouchable,” released earlier this month. He told Billboard, “You’ll be seeing [the album] very shortly. F’real, what you’re gonna get from this King Push album is something people probably haven’t heard in the past 18 years.”
