Ryan Gosling and Mike Myers celebrate Canadian Christmas in song on SNL

(NBC)

While plenty of Saturday Night Live hosts devote their monologue to the show’s birthplace, New York City, Ryan Gosling recruited one of SNL’s most famous Canadian alums to pay tribute to their shared roots.

Mike Myers returned to Studio 8H (although according to him, he still lives backstage) to help Gosling embrace his Canadian-ness. While the host originally tried to pass himself off as a native New Yorker, celebrating the Rockefeller Christmas tree and slices of ‘za, Myers called him out as being actually born in Ontario.

“Not everyone’s a big fan of immigrants right now,” Gosling explained. “Not sure I want to be shouting it from the rafters.”

Together, however, the pair honored all the wonderful things that originated across the border, including Degrassi Junior High and “Sir Justin Bieber,” before showing off their tap dance skills and breaking into song. Listen to their ode to Canadian Christmas below.
