Microsoft purchased Mojang and the Minecraft franchise late last year, and since then has allowed the game to continue existing on competitors’ platforms like the PlayStation 4 and now the Wii U. Independent developer Telltale Games has also been producing an episodic series based on the license, Minecraft: Story ModeAnd Minecraft movie directed by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney is also on the way.
