“I’d say, at one time or another, every bloke in the office has woken up at the crack of Dawn!”
Once upon a time, David Brent, deluded boss of the Slough branch of Wernham Hogg paper, peppered the original version of The Office with inappropriate remarks and outlandish behavior. Back then, the put-upon office secretary was the sweet and underappreciated Dawn (Lucy Davis), who ultimately found love with Tim (Martin Freeman).
But that was at least 12 years ago. Even if Dawn never became the artist she always dreamed of, you can’t expect her to still be answering phones at the paper company. So when Ricky Gervais resurrected his most famous character for the new mockumentary, Life on the Road, which chronicles Brent’s long-held ambition to make it as a musician, Brent greeted a new Dawn at the front desk (though it’s not exactly clear if he does visit his old stomping grounds or if this is some new office). In a new photo posted on Twitter, Gervais introduced Mandeep Dhillon and wrote, “Great to be back in the office. A new dawn.”

Brent had a difficult time keeping his foot out of his mouth at the office, especially with minority co-workers, so it’s safe to say — judging from Dhillon’s demeanor — that the former World’s Greatest Boss hasn’t yet softened his rough edges.
Life on the Road, written and directed by Gervais, is currently filming and will open in the U.K. next August.
