Few fans are as passionate and dedicated as Star Wars fans, but soccer fans certainly give them a run for their money. So what happens when you combine the two?
In the case of a recent CSKA Sofia match in Bulgaria, the result was a stadium full of supporters donning paper Stormtrooper masks, chanting along to “The Imperial March” (aka Darth Vader’s theme), raising an imposing Vader banner, and setting off copious flares.
See the spectacle in the video above. Once the pyrotechnics really get going, the scene starts to resemble the moment in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer when Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and her flametroopers lay waste to a village.
The show of, ahem, force worked out well for Sofia, as the club won the match, 3-0.
