The aliens are back in the first Independence Day: Resurgence trailer

“I see them in my dreams,” says Bill Pullman in the first Independence Day: Resurgence trailer. “They’re coming back.”

After an initial leak, 20th Century Fox released the official teaser footage for Roland Emmerich’s highly anticipated alien invasion sequel on Sunday. Years after the aliens first came to Earth and blew up the White House, Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson and Pullman’s now former President Whitmore are witnessing another wave.

“I spent 20 years trying to get us ready for this,” says Levinson. “We used their technology to strengthen our planet, but it won’t be enough.”

The film’s official plot has more details on the events of Resurgence: “Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.”

The veteran cast members, including Vivica A. Fox, are joined by franchise newcomers Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Joey King, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Sela Ward, and more. Emmerich directs Independence Day: Resurgence, which will hit theaters on Jun. 24, 2016.
