Lost Boys actor Brooke McCarter dies at 52

Brooke McCarter, best known for playing Paul in The Lost Boys, has died after suffering from a long-term illness.

The 52-year-old actor succumbed to complications resulting from a genetic liver condition on Tuesday, his family confirmed on his Facebook page.

“Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend,” they wrote. “Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

In addition to starring in the 1987 vampire hit alongside Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman and Jason Patric, McCarter made an appearance in the cult classic skateboard movie Thrashin’ alongside Tony Hawk and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

McCarter dropped out of show business in 1998 and moved to Florida to pursue a career in telecommunications, according his website and a 2010 interview with Horror.com. He returned to horror in 2009 with a role in The Uh-oh Show.
