Miss Universe: Sharing crown with Miss Colombia would be 'difficult' | EW.com

Miss Universe says 'it would be a little difficult' to share crown with Miss Colombia

Back in December, Steve Harvey crowned Miss Colombia the winner of the Miss Universe title — and then moments later, he took it back: The winner was actually Miss Philippines, not Miss Colombia. But despite suggestions that the two share the crown, Miss Philippines — Pia Wurtzbach — isn’t budging.

“I think it would be a little difficult for two girls to share a crown,” Wurtzbach said on Good Morning America Monday. “But I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia, and the rest of the contestants.”

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez thinks splitting the title is a great idea, though. “It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium,” Gutiérrez recently told a radio station.

After the mix-up, Harvey apologized on-air and also in a series of tweets. “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible,” he wrote. “I don’t want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing.”
