  • Jamie Foxx has been recruited to play Little John in Robin Hood: Origins. Director Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) leads up the intense Lionsgate project about the benevolent rogue’s beginnings after fighting in The Crusades. Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton is the hero himself, while Eve Hewson (The Knick) is on board to play the lovely Maid Marian. Little John becomes Robin Hood’s sidekick, but not without initial hesitancy and skepticism. He’s also a veteran of The Crusades, albeit fighting against Hood’s side. Filming for Robin Hood: Origins, written by Joby Harold (Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur), is expected to begin this fall. [Deadline]
  • Steve Carell is going Euro-tripping. The Big Short actor is leading up Euro Style at Universal, detailing a group of friends who experience the transatlantic backpacking trip they missed out on in their formative years. Carell joins up again with Crazy Stupid Love co-directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who are writing the comedy’s script. [The Tracking Board]
  • Jada Pinkett Smith and Kathryn Hahn have been tapped for an untitled comedy written and directed by The Hangover alums Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Christina Applegate are also attached. Kunis plays a mother with an apparently idyllic life, but joins up with two other moms (Bell and Hahn) to cut down on and break away from the day-to-day stresses. Their good-times bender ruffles the head of the PTA (Applegate) and her friend (Smith). Shooting begins this week in New Orleans. [Deadline]
  • Bad Santa 2 began filming Monday and fleshed out its cast with a trio of additions in Jenny Zigrino (Fifty Shades of Black), Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars), and Jeff Skowron (The Good Shepherd). Hansen will play Regent Hastings, who runs a charity alongside his wife Diane (the recently cast Christina Hendricks). Mark Waters (Mean Girls) directs off Johnny Rosenthal, Doug Ellin (Entourage), and Shauna Cross‘s (If I Stay, Whip It) script.
